Blast Furnace is a 2.5D metroidvania game that focusses on impactful gameplay through synchronisation of music and in-game events. The boss battle seen in this video is entirely directed through the music. This is made possible by a system that directs Unity through markers that are called from FMOD.
Because of this system a composer gains the ability to choreograph what is happening in the game directly through FMOD, shifting some of the power the game designers have over the game, to the composer. I am currently still exploring the limitations of this system together with game developer Yassine Minjon.
